FALMOUTH — Board of Health approves septic systems and continues cost-sharing review. The board unanimously approved an innovative/alternative septic system at 46 Fox Lane with a 10 mg/L effluent limit and voted to continue the 85 Brick Kiln Road Amphidrome application to February 23, with member George Heufelder approved variances at 9 Cricket Lane despite abstaining on the final vote. In a joint session with the Select Board, the boards discussed establishing a dedicated committee to analyze fair cost-sharing for state-mandated water quality improvements, with the Board of Health proposing collective treatment of innovative/alternative septic systems to spread costs town-wide rather than on individual property owners.
Heufelder raised concerns that a registration-only short-term rental program without inspections exposes the town to liability and would require additional Health Department staffing.
