Falmouth Board of Health approves nitrogen-removal septic system for Tobey Lane with design conditions. Chair Jed Goldstone's motion passed unanimously to require an enlarged initial tank, raised inspection covers, and compliance with the 10 mg per liter regulatory nitrogen limit for the 8-bedroom NitROE 2KM system serving a 6-bedroom home and 2-bedroom ADU. The board also heard from Barnstable County's Massachusetts Alternative Technology Test Center on septic operation and maintenance oversight services at $60 to $160 per home per year and unanimously voted to request the Select Board add surface and groundwater watershed identification for all Falmouth ponds to the town's watershed management plans, following a Falmouth Pond Coalition presentation on cyanobacteria blooms and water quality degradation as public health concerns.
