FALMOUTH — Board of Health approves urine diversion pilot and Hayway Road septic system. Chair Jed Goldstone's board voted to endorse the Massachusetts Alternative Septic System Test Center's state application for a 25-site urine-diversion pilot program to reduce nitrogen in local watersheds, with conditions on truck inspection and discharge prevention. The board also approved a Kleen-Tu NitROE treatment unit for the Hayway Road property, contingent on revised plans serving both existing and new structures through a single I/A system.
Members expressed support for the proposed Short-Term Rental Bylaw heading to April town meeting, though they flagged potential workload impacts on Health Agent Scott McGann; the town has budgeted $50,000 for initial contractor support and committed to longer-term staffing evaluation post-passage.
