Falmouth Board of Health pursues enforcement to address widespread I/A system non-compliance. The board meeting included operators managing the town's innovative septic systems, which increasingly fail to meet state nitrogen limits of 19 milligrams per liter for legacy systems and 10 milligrams per liter for new systems. Chair Jed Goldstone, Vice Chair Amy Roth, George Heufelder, and Dr.

George Topulos heard from operators Winston A Steadman II of All Cape Environmental and Mike Bisienere of Cape Septic Inspections about homeowner non-compliance and maintenance barriers. The board will contact homeowners with non-compliant systems directly, formalize pump-out orders with daily-fine authority when owners ignore operator recommendations, and may require mandatory annual pumping for persistently non-compliant systems.
