Committee advances Shining Sea Bikeway grant bid, plans 50th anniversary

Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee · Meeting of February 4, 2026

Falmouth Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee submits MassTrails grant application for Shining Sea Bikeway maintenance. Committee Chair Katherine Jansen reported the Cape Cod Commission sent a letter of recommendation for the 12,000 dollar paving and tree removal project covering 100 yards of the six-mile stretch requiring repaving, to be completed over two years beginning in April. The committee took no action on emerging e-bike and micromobility regulations, deferring to a Massachusetts legislative Special Commission on the issue.

The committee is planning a 50th anniversary celebration of the bikeway on April 25 at the bus depot.
