FALMOUTH — Water Quality Committee designates Leighton to new fairness task force on sewer equity. The Water Quality Management Committee named Vice Chair Steve Leighton as its representative to a Fairness Task Force created by the Select Board to examine disparities between residents required to install advanced septic systems and those connecting to public sewers. The six-member task force, with appointments from the WQMC and Board of Health, seeks public applications for the remaining four seats by June 26, 2026.
The committee heard updates on regional wastewater projects, including Falmouth's progress on an outfall-pipe environmental impact review and Great Pond sewering phase one work, along with a presentation on alternative septic technologies, with three agenda items tabled due to time constraints.
