FALMOUTH — Short-term rental bylaw faces revised inspection framework as Board of Health raises staffing concerns. The advisory committee discussed potential edits to the bylaw ahead of Town Meeting, with Board of Health member Jed Goldstone warning that roughly 800 registered short-term rentals requiring annual inspections would demand two full-time health department staff positions. Committee members Douglas Brown and Elizabeth Kline will attend a Board of Health meeting Monday to explore shifting inspection responsibility to third-party contractors.
Thomas Crane will prepare a Town Meeting presentation on the bylaw; the next committee meeting is set for Tuesday, March 17 at 5 p.m.
