FALMOUTH — Human Services Committee approves one-year childcare assistance pilot program funded by reserves. Committee Co-chair Michael Bihari introduced the motion, seconded by Committee Member William Hough, to establish the pilot with the Coalition for Children and Falmouth Service Center as fiscal agent. Coalition Coordinator Bethany Gay, M.Ed., reported that infant childcare in Massachusetts averages $26,700 annually, with 64 Falmouth families on a state voucher waitlist; at the 7 percent household-income affordability benchmark, families would need to earn $381,428 per year to afford care.
The Committee voted unanimously.
