Conservation Commission approves beach plan update, denies one coastal property order

Falmouth Conservation Commission approves 2026 Beach Management Plan review through May 6. The eight-beach plan covering Megansett, Old Silver, Chapoquoit, Wood Neck, Surf Drive, Falmouth Heights, Bristol, and Menauhant beaches drew discussion on dune access paths and erosion control, with staff directed to consult coastal engineers. The Commission voted unanimously to fund a seasonal land management position and approve a $20,000 Kubota tractor purchase from its Conservation Trust Fund, which holds approximately $202,000.
In separate votes, the Commission denied an Order of Conditions for a two-story house at 17 Green Pond Road over buffer-access concerns and issued an Order of Conditions for 33 Oyster Shell Lane requiring removal of unpermitted hardscape encroachments and wetland buffer revegetation.
