Falmouth Beach Department Trims Staffing as Summer Season Winds Down

Falmouth's Beach Department began adjusting staffing levels at the town's 10 public beaches this week as seasonal employees left their summer jobs to head back to school, with some sites moving to partial or no coverage.

The Beach Department said Monday it is working through staffing gaps at each of its 10 public beaches as college- and high-school-age lifeguards and attendants return to classes. The department said it will keep updating the public on which sites are fully staffed, partially staffed or unstaffed as the adjustment continues through the end of the season.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Falmouth Public Library's Main branch hosts author Betty Morningstar on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. for "A Late Coming of Age," a talk tied to her new book. The library's East and North Falmouth branches also have a full slate of drop-in programming this week, including craft sessions, scavenger hunts and family activities.
