Finance Committee approves $24.3 million in operating budgets across town departments.

Falmouth Finance Committee approves fourteen departmental operating budgets totaling $24.3 million. The Committee unanimously backed appropriations spanning Public Safety-Police at $10.6 million, Community Services-Library at $2.65 million, and Employee Benefits-Retirement at $13.76 million, which faces an 8.28 percent year-over-year increase driving pressure on the overall budget. Finance Director Laura Sitrin stated the retirement system fund currently sits at 73 percent funding with over $200 million under management and projects costs to reach 8.5 to 9 percent of the annual budget by 2033.

Veterans Services Director Jim Gouzias noted the department distributed $13.2 million in federal VA benefits to 632 local veterans and surviving spouses in fiscal year 2025, with Chapter 115 assistance reaching approximately 40 low-income households per month.
