Freshwater Pond Advisory Committee · Meeting of February 5, 2026

Falmouth Freshwater Pond Advisory Committee approves fertilizer regulation signage for store placement and charts next steps on pond evaluation tool. The seven-member committee, including Liese Siemann, Matt Long, George Heufelder, Kim Comart, Angela Tanner, Bill Kerfoot, and Bill Mebane, endorsed the sign design with minor modifications and agreed to distribute copies to vendors. Siemann presented a new app tool using weighted criteria to rank local ponds, which the committee will test and refine.

Matt Long analyzed phosphorus data from Cape Cod ponds, noting most showed no significant trend but changed levels when additional data were considered. The committee also assigned follow-up work on Mill Pond maintenance strategies and landscape company workshops with Conservation Department staff.
