Freshwater Pond Committee Advances Fertilizer Signage and Monitoring Plans

FALMOUTH — Freshwater Pond Advisory Committee approves next steps for fertilizer signage and monitoring. Angela Tanner and Bill Mebane will revise educational signs for retailer distribution, incorporating QR codes and larger fonts, while Kim Comart drafts a letter requesting Select Board authorization to instruct town staff to notify fertilizer vendors. Matt Long will analyze existing Cape Cod Commission and Chris Neill pond monitoring data and attempt to obtain watershed delineation maps.
The Committee agreed that frequent simple monitoring of transparency and dissolved oxygen provides more value than occasional detailed chemical analyses, and scheduled the next meeting for February 5th at 5:30 p.m.
