Recreation Committee · Meeting of August 12, 2026

FALMOUTH — The Falmouth Recreation Committee discussed significant maintenance needs at the Gus Canty Community Center, moving toward elevating roof repair priorities in the capital plan. Recreation Director Julie Williams-Tinkham reported roof leaks damaging newly installed gym flooring, building security concerns from a deteriorated gym door that allowed unauthorized entry, and an HVAC failure in the arts and crafts room. Vice Chairperson Sany Cuny flagged that the capital plan's fiscal year 2035 target for roof replacement is too long to wait.

The committee also noted progress on Taft Playground (contract executed, equipment ordered) and Bell Tower tennis court work (fencing, underlayment, and top layer in progress). Pickleball court expansion plans remain on hold pending a town sound bylaw.
