Historical Commission approves renovations at 109 Old Main Road, church signage

Falmouth Historical Commission approves dual certificates of appropriateness. The board unanimously cleared a residential renovation at 109 Old Main Road to include two front dormers, roofing and siding replacement, and a new entry door, contingent on applicant Ed Ferreira resubmitting plans reflecting all discussed specifications. The commission also unanimously approved a four-panel replacement sign for the First Congregational Church at 68 Main Street, installed as close to the road as zoning permits, with navy blue panels, carved white lettering, a weatherproof message board, and lo-luster white finishes on all materials.
Separately, the board unanimously voted to tighten vinyl fencing guidelines, explicitly prohibiting glossy vinyl products in the historic district while allowing higher-grade PVC materials finished in matte or lo-luster paint to resemble wood.
