Human Services Committee · Meeting of February 3, 2026
FALMOUTH — Human Services Committee approves prior minutes and hears IRC immigration services report. The Immigration Resource Center, funded by a $9,500 Community Action Committee of Cape Cod grant, served 29 families with 66 adults and children in six months, including 16 naturalization cases and services for three domestic violence victims; Jerome Marinowki (IRC volunteer attorney), Renata Reginato (case worker), and Stephanie Souza (coordinator) reported that new federal restrictions now limit some services to "qualifying immigrants," forcing referrals to other agencies. The committee discussed outcomes of a 200-person January 22 community forum on immigration and plans for smaller political discussions; Director Suzie Hauptmann and Select Board Member Heather Goldstone will report on next steps at the March meeting.
YMCA and HAC grants expire June 30, 2026, triggering an RFP process to begin in March with contract awards expected by July.
