Falmouth Planning Board approves utility-scale solar development at former country club. The board voted unanimously on April 14 to approve ASD Cape Cod Holdings, LLC's application to install three large-scale ground-mounted solar photovoltaic arrays across approximately 56.8 acres at the former Cape Cod Country Club, comprising 23.3 megawatts direct current and 13.5 megawatts alternating current. The applicant will donate the entire 137-acre property to the town and lease it back for solar operations, with approximately 54.9 acres designated permanently as open space.
The project will reduce impervious cover from 168,947 square feet to 101,550 square feet and nitrogen loading concentration from 2.9 ppm to 0.05 ppm, and includes 650 trees to be planted, public walking trails, battery energy storage systems, and 29 conditions including a decommissioning bond amount to be set by the Select Board.
