FALMOUTH — Planning Board approves Wendy's restaurant; solar debate stalls. The Falmouth Planning Board voted unanimously to approve a 2,391-square-foot Wendy's fast-food restaurant with drive-thru at 0 Worcester Court, contingent on applicant-funded intersection safety improvements including ADA-compliant crosswalks, LED stop signs, and pavement markings. The Board also voted unanimously to draft positive decisions for two school carport-mounted solar systems totaling 350 kilowatts: a 150-kilowatt array at North Falmouth Elementary covering 88 percent of its electricity use, and a 200-kilowatt array at Falmouth High School covering 15 percent, both under fixed-rate power purchase agreements with no town capital cost.
The Board continued a site plan review for large-scale ground-mounted solar arrays at Theatre Drive and Boxberry Hill Road to February 24 after Chair John Druley and Town Counsel Maura O'Keefe disagreed over whether utility undergrounding conditions fell within the Board's authority.
