FALMOUTH — The Police Station Advisory Committee approved prior minutes by a vote of 3-0-1 and reviewed design development progress on the $59.2 million police station. Architect Matt Salad presented site plan, floor plan, and exterior design updates. The refined Schematic Design cost estimate of $50.9 million, with a 7.5 percent contingency, yields $59.2 million total project budget, down from an earlier $65 million figure.

At a July 13 Select Board meeting, new leadership raised concerns about costs relative to competing capital projects and requested alternative designs and a third-party police staffing analysis. The project team presented value engineering options including deletion of the outbuilding ($2.3 million potential savings), rear drive ($330,000), canopy ($580,000), and Communications Center suite ($1 million). Public outreach is planned for the week of August 24, 2026; the Town Meeting vote is set for April 5, 2027.
