Falmouth pond panel moves forward with water sampling expansion and zone-protection plans. The Freshwater Pond Advisory Committee approved prior meeting minutes and assigned tasks to expand water testing with the Falmouth Pond Coalition and explore a $200,000 to $300,000 consultant project to delineate protective zones around 28 ponds. Members also discussed localizing state fertilizer regulations through a town bylaw.
On retailer signage, nine of 11 lawn-fertilizer vendors in town are cooperating with compliance; Aubuchon Hardware committed to statewide implementation. The committee, short two members, plans outreach to recruit candidates with regulatory and legal expertise.
