Second West Nile-Positive Mosquito Sample Found Near Sider's Pond
State health officials confirmed a second mosquito sample from the area around Sider's Pond has tested positive for West Nile virus, marking the town's second such finding this season.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health notified Falmouth that a mosquito sample collected in the vicinity of Sider's Pond tested positive for West Nile virus, according to the town's News Flash. It is the second positive sample of the year at that location, following an initial detection on July 21. The town has not announced new spraying or advisory measures beyond the standard mosquito-borne illness precautions urging residents to reduce standing water and use repellent during peak mosquito activity hours.
