Solid Waste Advisory Committee drafts revised purchasing policy
Solid Waste Advisory Committee · Meeting of January 13, 2026
Falmouth Solid Waste Advisory Committee unanimously approves revised environmental purchasing policy. Committee Chair Alan Robinson and members backed a new Environmentally Preferable Product Purchasing statement that incorporates vehicle fuel-efficiency requirements, life-cycle management considerations, and strengthened recycling and waste-reduction standards. The policy must be finalized by June 30 to qualify Falmouth for participation in the state's Recycling Dividends Program.
Coordinator Mary Ryther reported the curbside trash and recycle contract awaits Town Attorney review, with SWAC representatives to be invited into subsequent procurement discussions. The committee also endorsed a community survey on trash and composting opinions to be developed by member Richard Merrick for February review.
