SWAC recommends delaying Nauset trash cart rollout to May.

Solid Waste Advisory Committee · Meeting of April 14, 2026

Falmouth Solid Waste Advisory Committee urges delay on Nauset trash cart distribution. The SWAC voted to recommend that Nauset Disposal postpone its mid-May rollout of curbside carts to allow sufficient time for resident education and organized distribution of appropriately sized containers, citing concerns that May distribution would leave carts lingering in front of seasonal residences. Chair Alan Robinson and members including Richard Merrick discussed Nauset's parent company, Waste Connections, having prior experience with similar rollouts.

The Committee also deferred consideration of a redeemable bottles and cans drop-off event, agreed to revisit a proposed senior waste manager position given tight town finances and a soft hiring freeze, and confirmed that the next meeting will be held May 12, 2026.
