FALMOUTH — Water Quality Management Committee reviews nitrogen-reduction progress across four major projects. The Urine Diversion Pilot Program is on schedule with nine completed on-site screening studies and expected summer installations costing $5,000 to $15,000; the outfall project has completed six offshore boreholes at $100 feet deep showing sand, gravel, and silty layers suitable for directional drilling; Bill H4082 for a refundable septic tax credit funding up to $18,000 over six years received "ought to pass" endorsement and advances to House Ways and Means; and the Snug Harbor permeable reactive barrier is proceeding with a revised layout and a Quality Assurance Project Plan under review. The draft Watershed Management Plan targeting state-designated nitrogen-sensitive areas is on track for year-end completion with FY27 funding anticipated, with current permitted outfall discharge at 0.71 million gallons per day against a 3.0 MGD design capacity.
