FALMOUTH — Water Quality Management Committee votes unanimously to submit watershed management plan to state. Wastewater Superintendent Amy Lowell presented Falmouth's town-wide plan addressing nitrogen-sensitive areas under state regulation, with a phased adaptive management timeline from 2030 to 2050. The committee approved forwarding the Environmental Notification Form and plan outline to the Select Board for signature and submission.
The 375 Sandwich Road development includes a $750,000 payment in lieu of mitigation infrastructure, designated for Great Pond watershed nitrogen offsets, though committee and public comments questioned adequacy of the offset and urged clearer mitigation policies. Falmouth was awarded $7,182 for a Quality Assurance Project Plan to validate water quality data.
