WQMC backs outfall environmental report for state submission

FALMOUTH — Water Quality Management Committee unanimously recommends state submission of draft outfall environmental report. Falmouth Wastewater Superintendent Amy Lowell presented a DEIR reflecting three years of data and hydrodynamic modeling to advance the town's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permitting process; the Select Board presentation is scheduled for June 8 or 15. The committee also reviewed a Martha's Vineyard Commission nitrogen-offset framework and tabled a letter to the Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs about the Reserve at Quashnet Valley development's impact on Waquoit Bay pending language refinement.
The WQMC is accepting applications through June 5 to fill two vacancies.
