FALMOUTH --

TOWN -- The Falmouth Select Board, meeting Oct. 5, approved a consent-agenda item authorizing the town manager to apply for a Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources Green Communities Competitive Grant to replace five end-of-life natural gas-fired HVAC units at the Gus Canty Recreation Center, 790 Main Street, with high-efficiency electric rooftop units.

HIGH SCHOOL -- Falmouth High School's athletics department announced that registration for the 2026-2027 winter sports season is open through FamilyID. Athletes must have a current physical on file with the nursing office or provide one at their first tryout or practice. Tryouts and practices for all winter sports are set to begin Monday, Nov. 30.

COMMUNITY -- Cape Cod Marathon Weekend, proclaimed by the Select Board in late September, took place Oct. 10 and 11. At the board's Oct. 5 meeting, members reminded residents to check traffic restrictions tied to the races over the weekend. The same meeting included recognition of more than 100 volunteers who staged the 20th Annual Buzzards Bay Coalition Bike Ride on Oct. 4, which drew riders from as far as Rhode Island to Woods Hole to raise money supporting the health of Buzzards Bay.
