Falmouth's Select Board heard a celebratory update on the Cape Cod Marathon at its Oct. 19 meeting, with race director Jack Afarian calling the Oct. 10-11 event "our best one ever" and announcing the race's 50th anniversary will come in 2027.
FALMOUTH --
COMMUNITY -- Cape Cod Marathon race director Jack Afarian told the Select Board on Oct. 19 that the Oct. 10-11 marathon was "our best one ever," thanking town departments, including the police department, fire rescue, the Department of Public Works and the school department, for their support. Afarian said the race will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2027. A Select Board member who attended the finish line noted that about 70 runners completed the weekend's "Lobster and Chowder Challenge," running a half marathon on Saturday and the full marathon on Sunday.
Separately, the board approved a special one-day wine and malt beverages license for Shipwrecked, LLC, 263 Grand Avenue, for an after-party tied to the Falmouth in the Fall Road Race on Nov. 1, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., including setup and breakdown time.
