Falmouth Drought Declaration Holds as Town Weighs Water Fines
Falmouth remains under a Level 2 Significant Drought declaration as town officials continue to weigh whether new penalties are needed to curb residential water use through the rest of the summer, according to the town's website and a same-day report from Falmouth Patch.
TOWN HALL
The town's Level 2 Significant Drought designation, posted as an "8/12 update" on the town homepage, was still Falmouth's top alert as of Wednesday. Falmouth Patch's Wednesday morning roundup separately examined whether new fines could change how residents use water this summer, a question officials are wrestling with as the drought drags into late August.
The town's sewer construction project also picked up new closures. Starting Thursday, Maravista Avenue Extension will be closed from Route 28 to Nickerson Avenue, on top of the continuing Randolph Street closure, and the Brick Kiln Road and Sandwich Road intersection will close August 24 and 25. Closures run weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with detour maps posted on the town's construction-update page.

The Upper Cape Camera Club opens its "Fun on Cape Cod" photo exhibit at the Falmouth Public Library on Thursday, running all day Thursday and Friday, per the library's events calendar.
