Falmouth Closes All Waters to Shellfishing After Heavy Rainfall
Falmouth's shellfishing beds closed to all recreational and commercial harvesting Tuesday following heavy rainfall, while Falmouth police continue searching for a man last seen Saturday evening at Woods Neck Beach, according to a report picked up in local news alerts.

The town announced Tuesday that all South Coast Falmouth waters are closed to recreational and commercial shellfishing until further notice, citing guidance from the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries following excessive rainfall. The closure took effect July 7 and has no stated end date; shellfishermen should watch for further town updates before returning to the water.
Separately, the town's ongoing sewer project construction continues to affect road access in East Falmouth. Brick Kiln Road remains open through Wednesday, July 8, but will close between Sandwich Road and Oxbow Road starting Thursday, July 9. Maravista Avenue Extension will also close between Teaticket Highway and Mattapan Street. Both closures run 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.

The Falmouth Public Library's Main branch is running a full slate of programming this week, including an Open Art Studio, Digital Navigator technology help, a World Cup Round of 16 watch party, and a Genealogy Research Help Desk, all held Tuesday. The Falmouth Human Services Committee also met at the library Tuesday afternoon.
At the East Falmouth branch, families can catch a drop-in craft session Wednesday morning, slime-making and knitting night on Thursday, and a scavenger hunt and game day Saturday. The North Falmouth branch has a scavenger hunt and family music program with Tom Sieling on Friday, plus lawn games on Monday, July 13.
The library's blog also highlighted its "Falmouth Reads Together" series, this cycle focused on land, community and conservation on Cape Cod tied to the history of the Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge, alongside recent posts on honeybee swarms and an upcoming environmental fair.
