Falmouth secured a $400,000 state grant for Shining Sea Bikeway improvements as Falmouth High School opened fall sports registration for the coming season.

FALMOUTH -- The town of Falmouth has been awarded $400,000 in Mass Trails grant funding for improvements to the Shining Sea Bikeway, the town manager announced at the June 29 Select Board meeting. The grant, which carries a matching requirement, had been under a state embargo until the governor's office and the Department of Conservation and Recreation held a formal announcement ceremony. The town will coordinate the project with its Department of Public Works.

HIGH SCHOOL Falmouth High School has opened registration for the 2026 fall sports season through FamilyID. All athletes must have a current physical on file with the high school nursing office, or provide one at the first tryout or practice. Tryouts and practices for all sports are set to begin Monday, August 24. Fall offerings include football, field hockey, cross country, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls golf, volleyball, cheerleading, and unified basketball.

COMMUNITY The Falmouth Elks, No. 2380, received Select Board approval for a special event permit fee waiver to hold the annual 4th of July Bike Parade at Mullen Hall School on Saturday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
