School Committee appoints new Assistant Superintendent and affirms capital plan

Falmouth School Committee unanimously appoints new Assistant Superintendent while advancing capital improvements. Sandy Kapsambelis, currently Director of Student Services, was confirmed as Assistant Superintendent by a 9-0 vote. The committee also approved $1,655,000 for the October 2026 phase of its 10-year capital plan.
Superintendent Lori Duerr reported state approval of $50,000 for Teaticket Elementary's playground project and outlined summer work including solar panel installations at two schools, playground renovations, geothermal testing, and security camera upgrades district-wide. The committee postponed a vote on reconsidering the Superintendent's May 26 evaluation to June 23, with Chair Kelly Welch dissenting.
