Falmouth Confirms Holiday Will Not Delay Curbside Trash Collection

With the Fourth of July holiday just days away, Falmouth's Department of Public Works wants residents to know their trash and recycling pickups are not changing — curbside collection will run on its normal schedule this week.

The town posted a reminder Tuesday morning that the upcoming Independence Day holiday will not delay curbside collection. Residents should put their bins out as usual on their regularly scheduled pickup days. The town's sewer construction project also continues to affect two corridors: Brick Kiln Road remains closed between Sandwich Road and Oxbow Road, and as of Monday, June 29, Maravista Avenue Extension is closed between Route 28 and Mattapan Street. Both closures are in effect weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Falmouth remains under a Level 2 Significant Drought designation, per a June 17 update from the town.

The Conservation Commission has a hearing scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, and the Select Board meets Monday, July 13.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Falmouth Public Library system has a busy week across its three branches. At the Main Library on Wednesday, July 1: a "Road to Revolution: The Occupation of Boston" exhibit is on display all day, a Master Gardener drop-in runs at 2 p.m., an Open Art Studio featuring Shrinky Dinks is at 2:30 p.m., and the Regal Seagull Robotics Team meets at 5 p.m.

At the East Falmouth branch Wednesday, July 1, there is a Stay & Make drop-in craft starting at 9:30 a.m. On Thursday, July 2, Jackson Gilman brings "Riot in the Garden" Songs and Stories at 2 p.m. (a rescheduled date), Library LEGO Time runs at 3:30 p.m., and Why Knot Knit Nite meets at 5 p.m.

At the North Falmouth branch, Bingo for Books is set for Wednesday, July 1, at 1 p.m.
