Solid Waste Committee charts food waste composting, foam recycling initiatives

Solid Waste Advisory Committee · Meeting of July 14, 2026

Falmouth's Solid Waste Committee plotted FY2027 priorities during a July 14 planning meeting. The committee, chaired by Richard Merrick and including Ruth Brazier, Ken Jones, Scott Peterson, and Robert "Hap" Garritt, reviewed a July 2 AmeriCorps proposal that received positive feedback for a multi-year food waste composting and household training program. Ken Jones is organizing a monthly meeting with representatives from nearby towns to develop a regional foam recycling hub modeled on successful programs in New Hampshire and New Jersey.

Robert Garritt and Ruth Brazier will prepare a summary of commercial waste tonnage data, which Board of Health regulations require businesses to report.
