Falmouth Conservation Commission clears routine permits, stalls on Green Pond dredging fight. Chair William Duffy's board approved negative determinations for three properties, including a Novo Builds Mass home on Westford Road, and closed a coastal bank restoration hearing at 165 Upalong Road after ordering a cobble layer removed from the design. The sharpest exchange came over a dredging request at 34 Bridge Street, where Administrator Jennifer Lincoln said she had "grave concerns with setting a precedent" for improvement dredging to a private dock, and member Elizabeth Gladfelter cited a prior Perch Pond project that "ruined softshell clam habitat" for over a decade.
Applicant representative Mike Borselli disputed staff's characterization of an unrelated open violation as "egregious." The hearing was continued to September 16, pending comments from the state Division of Marine Fisheries and the town shellfish constable. A separate hearing for Gary Goody at 81 Redbrook Road was continued to September 2 after a required state filing fee could not be confirmed.
