Zoning Board continues fast-food application; approves flood-zone home rebuild
Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of January 8, 2026
Falmouth Zoning Board approves duplex rebuild in flood zone, continues fast-food debate. The board unanimously granted application #085-25 to allow razing and rebuilding an existing nonconforming duplex at 51 Thomas Lane, increasing lot coverage from 19.8 percent to 24.4 percent with conditions including height certification at framing and as-built documentation prior to final occupancy. In a continuation of its December hearing, the board voted 5-0 to defer application #071-25 (Fashion Food LLC, Worcester Court) to January 29, 2026, following public testimony on pedestrian and vehicle safety at an intersection with 51 reported accidents over nine years; peer traffic consultant Jeffrey Dirk reported the proposal would generate 60 to 70 new trips during peak summer hours, with remaining engineering issues including stormwater management and sidewalk design.
The board also continued application #083-25 (Voci, 391 Currier Road) to March 26, 2026, at the applicant's request.
